Studies have shown that untreated malocclusions (“bad bites”) may result in the following issues:
- Proper oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) is much more difficult when teeth are crowded, which may cause tooth decay and/or gum disease.
- Protruding teeth are more easily chipped
- Cross-bites can result in unfavorable growth and uneven tooth wear.
- Open-bites can cause poor tongue positioning habits.
These things hold true for everyone—children, teens, and adults! Orthodontic treatment can be completed using a variety of appliances, including regular braces (metal and clear) and clear aligners.
